Yıldız Technical University Publishing is the university’s own academic press. We publish open-access, peer-reviewed research across engineering, the natural sciences, architecture and design, education, and the social sciences.
About YTU Publishing
YTU Publishing (YTUP) is the publishing house of Yıldız Technical University. It brings the university’s journals onto one platform and runs the work behind them: receiving manuscripts, organising peer review, recording editorial decisions, producing the accepted article, and keeping it publicly readable afterwards.
The press is not new. Our oldest title, Sigma Journal of Engineering and Natural Sciences, has been published since 1983, and the catalogue has grown to 12 journals since. The public archive holds 4,598 articles published between 2003 and 2026, all of them free to read.
Yıldız Technical University Publishing exists to make the research of its academic community publicly available, to assess that research honestly, and to keep the published record accurate and permanent.
Publish without a paywall
Every article we publish is open access. A reader anywhere can read, download and cite our journals without a subscription and without asking permission.
Judge the work, not the author
Manuscripts are assessed by independent experts under double-blind review. Editorial decisions rest on the reports and the journal’s own criteria, and the reasoning is written down in the decision letter.
Protect the record
Submissions are screened for originality, authorship and ethics declarations are required, and corresponding authors are identified by ORCID so that credit is attributed to the right person.
Serve the disciplines we host
Our journals are edited by working academics in their own fields, from thermal engineering and materials to architecture, education and the social sciences.
Our Vision
To be a university press whose journals are read, cited and trusted beyond Türkiye — publishing on our own platform, to international indexing standards, with every stage of the editorial process visible to the people it affects.
A single platform for every journal
One submission system, one editorial workflow and one public archive for all of our journals, replacing the separate third-party systems they grew up on.
Wider international reach
Continuing to raise journals toward the indexing bodies that matter in their fields, and keeping the metadata, DOIs and archiving those bodies require.
Transparency as a default
Authors should be able to see where their manuscript stands, reviewers should know what is being asked of them, and readers should be able to check our policies without asking us.
A durable archive
Research published here should remain findable and citable at a stable address for as long as the university exists — not only while a given platform is in service.
How we publish
The commitments below are not aspirations; each one is written into the guidelines and policies published on this site, and each links to the page that states it in full.
Independent peer review
Our journals operate double-blind peer review: reviewers are not told who the authors are, and authors are not told who the reviewers are. A handling editor appointed by the Editor-in-Chief reads the reports and issues a written decision. The review timeline and the four decision categories are published in full.
Research integrity
Every submission carries a signed authorship and ethics declaration, and is screened for similarity before it reaches an editor. Research involving human participants or animals requires an institutional ethics approval reference. What we ask for, and why, is set out in the author guidelines.
Open access and reuse
Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution licence and authors retain copyright. Anyone may redistribute or build on the work provided the authors and source are credited — see the copyright statement and the publication charges page for each journal’s terms.
A citable, permanent record
Published articles are assigned a DOI and a stable address on this platform, and are supplied to the indexing and abstracting services each journal participates in. Corrections and changes to our policies are recorded rather than made silently.
Our journals
12 journals, each with its own editorial board, aims and scope, and author instructions. Article counts are taken from this platform’s archive.
